Useful Things?
These are things we have done at Explorers that have worked well. If any of them are a help to you please do use them
We use a publication called SALT from Scripture Union. Full details are at www.NewSalt.org.uk
Games
We use a game called ‘Sleeping Lions’ whilst we read a Bible story. It keeps the children far quieter than asking them to sit on chairs and listen. Each child has to pretend to be a sleeping lion and lay absolutely still (we allow breathing and blinking) At the end of the story every child is given a prize (normally a sweet).
Hear the word. In this game we have two teams at opposite ends of the hall. One team has a verse or saying and the other team has to guess what it is. The first team all call out the first word at the same time. When a lot of people call out a word it is really hard to hear what it is. We work through each word and the second team tries to guess the verse. We repeat words if they can’t get it.
